Kibale

This image was taken in Uganda in Kibale National Park.  After trekking for several hours, we finally found the troop of chimpanzees that we were looking for.  I spent significant time watching and photographing these wonderful creatures as they groomed each other and relaxed under the jungle canopy.  The expressions, especially what was conveyed through their eyes, is what captivated me most, and I really tried to highlight that in this image.

In a summer 2025 juried exhibition at the Kerlin Gallery at Creative York, this image received an Award of Distinction.
